Hard Problems
08.2026
I'm drawn to problems that don't have a clean answer yet — the ones where the constraints fight each other and the obvious solution turns out to be wrong once you dig in. Fintech compliance rules colliding with a simple checkout flow. A climate dashboard that needs to be trustworthy to scientists and legible to executives. Developer tools that have to feel invisible while doing something genuinely complicated underneath.
These are the projects that make me want to stay a designer who codes rather than pick one lane: understanding a problem well enough to prototype it in the browser changes the quality of the questions you ask.
If you're wrestling with something similarly gnarly, that's usually the fastest way to get my attention.
